Albert

Crew on Venus |
When
he reaches Plymouth, he understands that there is still a day left for the rest
of the crew to arrive. So he plans to enjoy his time at a tavern. This is where
Albert’s adventures start. He meets Sally (Juliet Mills) here. She steals his
uniform & masquerades as him. She joins Venus as a MidShipman Albert Poop
Decker. Albert & Walter Sweetly (Charles Hawtrey) are taken on the crew of
Venus as sea-men by First Officer Lieutenant Jonathan Howett (Donald Houston)
& Mr. Angel (Percy Herbert) who assists the Lieutenant. The captain of
Venus is Captain Fearless (Kenneth Williams), who is anything on earth but
fearless.

Mr. Angel, Walter Sweetly & Lieutenant Jonathan |
Disgruntled
by Captain Fearless, Lieutenant Jonathan & Mr. Angel plot a conspiracy to
shoo away the Captain, MidShipman Albert Poop Decker & Sea-men Albert
& Walter. They are successful in their plan. The four along with the Captain’s
cow escape for safety in a boat to Spain. When leaving, Captain Fearless gets a
splinter in his foot; which turns out to be gangrenous later. Venus, now led by
Lieutenant turned Captain Jonathan, also boards Spain.

Captain Patch, the pirate captain |
The
chaos begins – the four of them escape from Spain in Venus; Jonathan takes over
5 ships from Spain & feels proud of himself. On its way back, Venus is attacked by the pirates. The captain of the pirates, Captain Patch turns out to be Roger (Peter Gilmore), Sally's love. A comedy fight results into the victory of Venus & the four against the pirates. But due to some
irresponsibility from Walter, the sail burns setting off the primed cannons
& hitting & blowing off all the 5 Spanish ships
The
four are considered as heroes at the Admiralty. Captain Fearless gets promoted
to Admiral & is given a desk job. Albert & Sweetly are given the ranks
of honorary Captain, with pension, but Albert confesses that he wishes to leave
the Navy service & marry Sally.
Overall,
the movie is fun to watch; seems like a Tom & Jerry chase.
