Detectives Somerset & Mills

The movie is about two detectives, a veteran & a rookie, looking out for a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as his modus operandi.

In an unknown city of constant rain & the urban decay, two detectives – Detective Somerset (Morgan Freeman) & Detective Mills (Brad Pitt), are partnered together for searching a serial killer. It is Somerset’s last case & Mills’ first. The duo investigate the murders done by the serial killer & they conclude that it has been done in relation with the seven deadly sins. The first of the murders was of an obese man who was compelled to eat till his stomach ruptured; representing Gluttony. Another murder was of a filthy rich lawyer who was made to cut his own

John Doe surrenders himself

pound of flesh; implying a penalty for Greed. Another murder is that of a person who is a child molester & a drug dealer; representing Sloth. The detectives accept that the killer must have planned these murders for over a year.

Using some library records as leads, the duo find out that there is a person John Doe (Kevin Spacey) who has been reading about the books related to the deadly sins. They track him & try to get hold of him; but he escapes. There is yet another series of murders for Lust, Pride, Envy & Wrath. The movie ends with a setting sun in the desert.

Mills, Doe, Somerset

The movie unfolds the terror of murders with nauseating special effects of the murders. Overall, it’s a movie not to miss!
