The plot of the movie is the
British-India province of Kalabar which is near the Khyber Pass. Sir Sidney
Ruff-Diamond (Sid James) is the Governor of Queen Victoria & looks after
the province. The province is guarded by the Third Foot & Mouth Regiment,
also known as “The Devils in Skirts” as they were considered of wearing nothing
below their skirts. When Private Widdle (Charles Hawtrey) encounters the dreadful
chief of the Burpa tribe - Bungdit Din (Bernard Bresslaw), he faints & is caught
wearing underpants. The Khasi of Kalabar (Kenneth Williams) weaves a conspiracy to use
this information to drive off the image of the Regiment. The Regiment is
inspected by Sir Ruff-Diamond to check whether the troop is wearing underpants or not. The troop is found wearing
the underpants; which is against their law. Meanwhile the Governor’s wife
(Joan Sims) clicks a photograph of the inspection. She takes it to the Khasi
hoping that he would take her to the bed. The movie keeps carrying on - what conspiracy does
the Khasi think of to pull down the image of the Regiment, how
successful is the Regiment in defending itself & how Princess Jelhi (Angela
Douglas), Khasi's daughter, helps the British Captain Keene (Roy Castle) against her father's wicked ideas. Did the Khasi of Kalabar
fall for Lady Ruff-Diamond?
