Movie Gist       

The plot of this romantic comedy is in the countrified surroundings of a small village in Haryana. The movie is about an affluent industrialist Harry Mandola (Pankaj Kapur) who is very passionate about his drink, his outgoing daughter Bijlee Mandola (Anushka Sharma) & the not so usual bond that they share with Matru (Imran Khan). Matru is Harry Mandola’s man, who has studied LLB from Delhi University; but remains unemployed. So, Matru comes back to his village to take up his ancestral profession of serving the Mandola’s. Harry Mandola is eyeing the land of the poor villagers because he wishes to build a factory there. Not to forget, Matru being the male protagonist obviously loves Bijlee (Anushka Sharma). Bijlee goes to Oxford University for further studies & falls for Baadal (Arya Babbar) who happens to be the son of a powerful politician Chaudhari Devi (Shabana Azmi). Bijlee is all set to marry Baadal & Harry Mandola is delighted with his daughter’s decision as the politician’s (Chaudhari Devi) signature will help Harry’s dream come true of setting a factory. Matru sympathizes with the villagers & ushers them to abstain from selling their land. Bijlee joins Matru in his noble deeds.  This simple alliance of the union of a girl & a boy turns upside down & brings along a lot of twists & turns in the lives of Matru, Bijlee & Mandola.
